Welcome to 2013

MUSIC LESSONS
You can sign up already on the home page of www.chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz to learn an instrument or vocals... Lessons will start over the next two weeks!

SPONSOR A MUSIC STUDENT
A new initiative is being able to sponsor a child to learn an instrument who otherwise couldn't afford to learn. You can find the form for this here.

ITINERANT MUSIC DEMO CONCERT - Tuesday 5th Feb
On Tuesday most of the itinerants will be in at school to do a special demo to all year 7s at 1.45pm. Hopefully this will help students choose an instrument to love and learn!

MUSIC GROUPS
The Chisnallwood music groups (which are all free) will start from next week. Students should check the daily notices for other groups but here are the dates of our first "sign-up" meetings next week:

  • Monday 11th Feb,  11am ORCHESTRA - all who play an instrument are welcome (you don't need instruments for this meeting)
  • Wednesday 13th Feb, 1.10pm Ukulele - all welcome (sign-up sheet here)
  • Thursday 14th Feb, 1.45pm jazz band - for those playing sax, (or who have skills on other wind instruments), or any brass instruments. Drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and vocals will be auditioned.
  • Friday 15th Feb,  11am CHOIR- all welcome
  • Friday 15th Feb,  2.45pm THEORY CLUB - all welcome (there's a sign up sheet here)


CLASSICAL SPARKS FREE  FAMILY CONCERT
Don't forget there is the Classical Sparks Concert on Tuesday night in Hagley Park which is a great event for families featuring the Christchurch Symphony the Army Band, fireworks and more.

Their programme is outlined below...


This classical music and fireworks concert showcases a 65–piece orchestra with the NZ Army band and numerous soloists. The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra takes the stage from 7.30pm. As a rousing finale, the orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture as the soundtrack to a fireworks display.
