Getting ready for term 4


As we come to the end of term 3, we wish our students well who are in the Music Festival Senior Choir or orchestra and who are taking part in the holiday rehearsals. We look forward to hearing you at the festival next term.
Itinerant nights are now established so students can set their practice goals. 
And we have some fantastic out-of-school performances starting with the Big Band festival over Labour Weekend.

It was great to be part of junior Jazz Jam where 7 excellent young jazz bands from around Christchurch performed on the stage at CPIT's Doug Caldwell Concert Room as well as getting helpful feedback from expert jazz lecturers Tom Rainey, Harry Harrison and Gwyn Reynolds.

Almost at the end of term 3

It's been a busy term 3 with music with lots of fantastic performances and achievements.

Finishing off term 3 we have Junior Jazz Jam tonight as our last concert for the term. This will be held at CPIT and runs from 5-7.30pm featuring 7 primary school jazz bands. Details are at http://www.bigbandfest.org.nz/junior-jazz-jam/

African Drum group runs 2 more Friday lunchtimes this term and costs $5 week. It is taken by Nicho Greig and registration is at this link: chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz/djembe-group/

Week 8 term 3

Tomorrow our orchestra, choir, ukuleles, hip-hop dance and Cosmic Latte will play for visiting school groups at Chisnallwood.

Congratulations to Molly Behan, student of Lynne Mackenzie who passed her Grade 2 Digital Piano exam recently with high distinction.

BandQuest and the Rest! Week 7 term 3





BANDQUEST

Congratulations to our 6 bands who played at BandQuest last week.
COSMIC LATTE won 1st Place at BandQuest Canterbury Regional Finals 1 with Nic Ryan winning best Keyboardist and Max Aldridge winning best male vocalist.


Michael Nehoff from ELECTRIC SWITCH won best female vocalist.


Izzy Riwaka from STATIC MOVEMENT won best original song.


Jai Tudor-Oakley from CATCH PHRASE won best drummer.

ALL ITINERANT MUSIC LESSONS - We look forward to term 4 when all students learning have the opportunity to perform for parents at our one of our itinerant music evenings!
