NZ Music Month

Thank you to Dan Callahan and the team at Aranui Library for hosting Chisnallwood music groups three times during NZ Music Month. Our final performance was last week with our choir, ukes and Irish and we even had a visiting preschool audience!

ROCKBANDS and ROCKQUEST

Chisnallwood had 4 bands who performed at Rockquest alongside 40 high school bands. All bands had to perform an original song. We also have an online entry in the Solo/Duo section with about 20 high school entries, and an entry in Pasifica Beats which will be held early July.
To see photos of our bands Broken Jandal, @nonymous, Wild Zodiacs, 82 Beats, Double Chocolate and the Semitones click the link below....
The next big Rock event will be Friday September 2nd for BandQuest!

HOOK LINE AND SINGALONG

We had Hook line and Singalong on Friday to celebrate the end of NZ Music Month. Singing the song together has been a fabulous tradition we have had with Avondale Primary fro the last few years, and this was the last time we could share this as they are due to close at the end of the year. We had some spot prizes and a house sing-off as well as the massed renditions complete with students who had learnt to play the 2016 song "We are Aotearoa" on different instruments. Air house blew us away with their knowledge of the song, NZ sign language and yellow dress code. Water showed excellent creativity with their original clapping beat and great rhythm section. Earth house was the chosen favourite by the judges and took 1st prize with Air coming second and Avondale 3rd.
Judges: Charlotte Crone from Orange Studio
Dan Callahan from Aranui Library
Carl Everett from ChCh Boys High School
The full video will be online by June 9th, and you can click the image to see the CTV coverage of the event!
