Music News Sept 12

  • Day visit and combined orchestra and band concert at 1.45pm by 78 boys from Sydney Grammar school, Monday Sept 16th
  • Chisnallwood Ukuleles, Marimba and Recorder players performing at the Strum Strike Blow Festival, Wed Sept 18th in the CBS Canterbury Arena with around 800 students from about schools. Rehearsal during the day 9.30am-2.30pm. Performance at 7pm-8.30pm - donation entry for audience. Details at www.strumstrikeblow.org
  • Theory exam entries due Sept 20th - and also ticket orders for Pirates of the Caribbean CSO concert due on Sept 20th (Both sign ups are on the www.chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz)
  • Jazz Combo gig for ASB Awards Ceremony, Tuesday 12noon Sept 24th

CSO ORCHESTRA CONCERTS 
Don't forget you can sign up for free tickets to the CSO Pirates of the Caribbean concert on October 12th (last weekend of the holidays) - but spaces for this are limited. It will sell out. Tech students can also sign up for the back stage tour the following day! Please sign up no later than September 20th.

HOLIDAYS - Oct 10th
We are lucky to have keyboard player, arranger, film composer and music director for One Direction at Chisnallwood on Thursday Oct 10th (second week of the holidays) to talk about his fascinating music career.

  • Nov 13th - BandQuest for all rock bands up to year 8. Held at Chisnallwood and runs from late afternoon and evening. http://www.bandquest.co.nz


JAZZ WORKSHOPS

A perfect opportunity for players who want a chance to try playing in a jazz band and a chance for anyone who would like the opportunity to work with Dr Rodger Fox. There's also a great Jazz workshop with Dr Dave Lisik where you can learn about Jazz vocabulary: theory and swing.
