Chissy Music News week 4 term 3

Last week we had a great saxophone masterclass at school taken by ex-Chisnallwood student Samuel Jones who has gone on and completed a degree majoring in saxophone.

Last week we celebrated our Bronze awards the Chisnallwood bands won. I forgot to add that Aya McLarty got special mention for her trombone playing, and so did Asher McNeil for his trumpet playing (from Halswell School, who joined us). Also many of the individual top awards were won by ex-Chisnallwood jazz band students! Congratulations to Hamish Smith (best bassist and best overall musician), Matthew Howes (best guitarist), Ella Dunbar-Wilcox (best vocals and best original song).

Oct 17 there will be a 24 hour Busk-a-thon to raise money for "Home and Family". We might have a group or 2 play from school, but if you know someone who would like to perform for this good cause, here is the registration page:

Special ticket offers for the Voices Festival close on Friday. (See choir page on the music website)

Next Friday a weekly lunchtime African Drumming group is starting up. The cost will be $30 for the remainder of the term and it will be taken by Nicho Greig. Sign up is at http://chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz/djembe-group/
